Duy Pham rode the extreme short stack as long as he could, even making a couple pay jumps for his efforts. But it finally caught up to him, as Greg Newhouse just did him in. Facing a raise from Newhouse, Pham committed his short stack with [Ah][7c]. He was in rough shape against the pocket eights of Newhouse, and a third eight on the flop quickly ended things. Pham was knocked out in 8th place, while Newhouse is now firmly in 2nd place behind James Dowdy.
